POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of proprietary company crude oil, light products, and asphalt hauling fleets. Supervises a team of Transport Supervisors who direct the day-to-day activities of the Transport Operations as it relates to truck resource planning, scheduling, loading and delivering of bulk petroleum products to customers. Additionally, this role ensures PM schedules are adhered to and coordinates equipment transfers to partner terminals or to third party mechanics for maintenance. Ensures regulatory compliance and is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides supervision, guidance, and leadership to ensure that all Transport employees are accountable for safe, environmentally sound, and compliant operations. 
  • Maintains knowledge and provides direction regarding compliance with company and government policies (i.e. operations, personnel, DOT).
  • Manages and audits onboard vehicle computer data.  
  • Ensures that driver reliability and availability meet agreed-to customer delivery needs.
  • Maintains close internal relationships with Central Dispatch, Loading Terminal Operations, Marketing, and Supply Operations. 
  • Maintains external relationships with third-party loading terminal operations. 
  • Ensures DOT compliance of Transport Operations (CDL w/ Hazmat, Random Drug Testing, Log Sheets (electronic & paper if required). 
  • Documents/Reports/Escalates all HSSE incidents according to operations policies.
  • Develops and promotes Safety Awareness Programs, communications and reinforcement of corporate expectations, policies, and Road Safety Standards.
  • Responsible for truck maintenance scheduling & coordination with both our internal and external mechanics/garages. This includes timely entry of invoices and other cost elements into maintenance cost systems for accurate fleet cost tracking.
  • Will be trained and expected to be first on the scene for emergency incident response.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in transport or logistics business required. 
  • Minimum 2 years’ Supervisory experience required.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • HSSE experience particularly with road safety management. Sound understanding of the motor carrier environment.
  • Familiar with laws and regulations governing proprietary Transport operations (DOT regulations). 
  • Good oral written and communication skills at all levels, especially with transport drivers.
  • Must be very comfortable with and have a solid grasp of moderate computer skills (MS Office Suite, Online Tools)
