Job Summary

Our Supervisor Aircraft Maintenance supports Southwest’s Mechanics, working from our hangar or at the airport, and collaborates with various Ground Operations Teams to ensure a safe and efficient operation for our Internal and External Customers. They work in an active, dynamic, and safe environment to support our People as they provide high-quality service and on time performance. The Supervisor Aircraft Maintenance is detail-oriented and committed to maintaining the largest Boeing 737 fleet in the world.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with fellow Supervisors and Leadership to achieve department metrics and objectives
  • Set clear expectations on daily assignments and procedures
  • Communicate process changes and procedures to their Employees
  • Assure Compliance with all applicable policies set forth in Southwest Technical Operations Handbook
  • Ensure all work performed during the assigned shift is in accordance with approved maintenance procedures
  • Assure Maintenance documentation of work performed is entered into computer base prior to aircraft departure
  • Review work packages for completeness and accuracy before all aircraft is returned to service
  • Assure that all deferred maintenance items have the required parts and labor hours recorded
  • Coordinate aircraft maintenance requirements with all pertinent Company Departments, specifically through Maintenance Control, to advise the current maintenance status of the aircraft
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations and guidelines for hazardous materials
  • Knowledge of FARs and other regulatory documents to ensure compliance with the FAA
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication including speaking in group situations
  • Skilled in reading and comprehending technical reports, instructions, and maintenance documents
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to solve problems and write document change requests, parts action requests, and other regulatory documents to ensure compliance with the FAA
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • Aircraft Maintenance
Licensing/Certification
  • Required: Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Required: Hold or be able to obtain an Airport Driver’s permit
  • Required: Obtain a SIDA badge and meet all local airport requirements
  • Required: Obtain Cat III and ETOPS certification following employment
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and/or overtime as needed to meet operational demands
  • Must be able to travel with some overnight stays several times a year for training, broken plane rescues, and department meetings

Pay & Benefits:


Competitive market salary from $124,55K per year to $138,4K per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
