Job Description:
Provides specialized technical services and engineering development with high standards of professionalism and quality, framed within continuous improvement to contribute to the improvement of business performance and reliability and the sustainability of generation businesses that make up the US SBU and achieve them with the satisfaction of all our internal clients.
This role is responsible for two areas
1) Engineering design
- Engineering design / technical specifications for the different stages of a project (either developed internally or by a contractor)
- Coordination with the plant's project management execution team to align the scope and deliverables of projects carried out by contracted services.
2) Technical Support Services for plants
- Presents solutions or technical recommendations against problems detected by O&M or to improve thermal, BESS, and renewable generation units (coordinates inspections with external companies when necessary)
- Reviews and approve the accuracy and/or technical assumptions within the CapEx plans and scheduled stoppages of the units according to budgets.
- Align and Coordinate the US SBU Engineering team with the plants' operational KPIs; ensuring coordination with Planning and Plant Operations.
- Timely delivery of technical specifications or scopes of work to provide visibility to the Supply Chain team.
- Follow up and coordinate with the plants' execution team to ensure the timely execution of project plans.
- Identify and communicate potential risks and coordinate to ensure actions are followed to mitigate them.
- Stay abreast of market or technology changes that can provide a higher performance and competitive edge to the plants.
- Provide technical support/services for the SBU plants, ensuring that AES has the right skills to support promptly or having visibility of outside contractors that can equally support.
- Maintain open communication within and outside of the function.
- Maintain a global network of internal AES professionals so that standard methodologies and improvements (or lessons learned) are integrated into the plants' designs, especially those that will reduce safety risks.
- Support and participate in defining priorities, ensuring these are communicated across all functions and management.
Qualifications:
- Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineer or similar.
- Experience of at least 10 years in positions related to project management and direction of work teams in power generation plants.
- 5 years of experience in the Operation and Maintenance of Thermal Generation Plants is desirable.
