We are looking for a talented Machining Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Operations in Columbus, Indiana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while contributing to teams.
Assists with the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
Contributes by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
Assists with the development of manufacturing standards and working methods by using continuous improvement tools.
Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
Learns the knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.

Industrial Engineering Knowledge - Integrates the pillars of industrial engineering techniques by applying a comprehensive and quantitative analysis to available data to be used as decision factors for the development or improvement of manufacturing processes to contribute to the most efficient process.
Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
Optimizes work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Problem Solving - Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
Basic level of relevant work experience required.
On site role.
Must be a self-starter, capable of leading and resolving production issues.
Capable of identifying and working projects.
Ability to edit and create CNC programs.
Working knowledge of GDT.
Ability to work in a cross functional environment.
May be required to supervise a machining AMA.
Experience with Fanuc, Siemens and Okuma controls a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience, range: $76,000-$114,000. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
