Overview
Garmin is seeking a full-time Senior Product Designer to join the Device Interaction team at our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. The Device Interaction team’s mission is to provide mobile and web applications and services that are easy to use and maximize the full interaction potential of all Garmin products.

As a Senior Product Designer, you will work primarily on Garmin Connect, the fitness and wellness application that millions of Garmin customers rely on. As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will be involved in every aspect of the feature development process, from wireframing the next great product innovation to tweaking pixels right before launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of user experience design, interaction design, and visual design skills. A strong ability to collaborate with others is also a must. You’ll work closely with associates from various departments to research, prototype, design, present, and create highly usable interaction solutions.
Essential Functions
- Performs as a design leader who guides design direction for multiple projects and takes responsibility for project planning to ensure timely project completion
- Makes substantial contributions to determining the feasibility of project goals/objectives
- Partners with team lead/management to determine feature vision, visualize and communicate it
- Serves as the subject matter expert for a key feature or technology and communicates best practices for user experience for that feature
- Researches and independently provides solutions for problems that span multiple groups or disciplines
- Leads conversations with partners and potential clients with respect to user experience design
- Contributes to advanced design research for new products or markets by identifying research opportunities, creating effective research protocols, and formulating solid solutions from research results
- Provides input to product design plans and concept documents and applies good judgment in setting schedules/risk-taking
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience OR a minimum of 9 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role
- Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals/objectives
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in graphics production, graphics editing technology, motion graphics, interactive design works and/or videography.
