Job Description:
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Senior CAD Librarian in our Olathe, KS, or Salem, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating highly complex parts and managing the global eCAD and/or mCad library databases to support Mechanical Designs and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designs for all of Garmin’s segments worldwide.
Essential Functions
- Manages/delivers global library database within established Garmin standards
- Independently determines general approach and provides reliable solutions to complex technical requests
- Works closely with Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Component Engineers, and Process Engineers to create and/or source component models
- Publishes library parts to the global eCAD library for use in electrical and mechanical designs
- Processes CAD Library requests for new parts and analyzes/modifies existing library parts for improved readability of the schematic or manufacturability of the component footprint
- Verifies/validates schematic symbols and physical footprints for parts created by other librarians for accuracy and compliance with Garmin standards
- Exercises leadership in the coordination of CAD Library database goals/objectives
- Initiates CAD Library process improvement projects
- Ability to mentor one or more CAD Librarians
- Demonstrates expert knowledge and assists with user support in CAD Library tools and engineering processes
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a CAD librarian position OR a minimum of 7 years relevant education and experience
- Demonstrates proficient use and thorough knowledge of CAD Library best practices and design standards for all PCB technologies used in current Garmin designs
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of all types of electronic components
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Cadence Allegro
- Experience with Pulse Design Data Management
- Experience with SolidWorks, OnShape or Catia
- Basic Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with PCB Design
