The Sr. Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing engaging, measurable learning solutions to improve individual and team performance. This role partners closely with learning program managers who own the end-to-end development and delivery of learning programs and curricula. Alongside learning program managers, instructional designers work with key business stakeholders and SMEs to design and develop innovative and high-impact learning experiences and programs aligned to PitchBook’s strategic goals. This role is critical to the ongoing growth of a learning culture at PitchBook by ensuring we provide quality and innovation in learning design and impactful solutions that develop PitchBook employees.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Apply adult learning theory to design and build learning solutions and experiences
- Design and develop instructionally sound learning solutions and experiences
- Consult and collaborate with learning program managers, business stakeholders, and SMEs to define options for learning solution design
- Partner with learning program managers to conduct training needs analysis to inform performance objectives, instructional strategies, and project scope
- Own and project manage the design, develop, and test phases for learning assets and evaluation instruments
- Leverage creative, immersive learning methodologies and mixed modalities in learning experience, product design, and development
- Collaborate with other instructional designers, media specialists, learning technology experts, and SMEs to dynamically create learning solutions
- Analyze quality and operation KPIs to identify the root causes of performance opportunities
- Identify and apply appropriate evaluation techniques (summative, formative, four levels, and usability testing)
- Partner with other teams to monitor completion, comprehension, and retention of the content to identify training effectiveness and improvement opportunities
- Build, implement, and improve instructional design processes by identifying and using design tools that support the efficient and timely design of high-quality solutions
- Consult and coach instructional designers to increase innovation and design skills
- Build effective working relationships, including communicating effectively with partners and stakeholders
- Demonstrate good judgment and analytical problem-solving methods
- Learn multiple systems and processes quickly
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 5+ years of previous experience in a relevant role
- Ability to analyze and logically organize complex information into instructionally sound training materials that excite and engage learners
- Experience with eLearning software such as Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia, and similar authoring tools and platforms for creating rapid animation or graphic-rich designs
- Experience with presentation and graphic tools (PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Demonstrate instructional design expertise for a broad range of delivery modalities focused on adult learners
- Audio and video skills with programs like Adobe Premiere and Audition, plus some front-end Web development
- Apply cloud infrastructure knowledge and experience with APIs to design and build engaging and effective learning experiences
- Experience defining and improving instructional design processes and tools to support continuous improvement and efficient, quality design work
- Ability to run multiple, complex projects. Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task and continually prioritize changing project tasks and deliverables
- Excellent grammar and writing proficiency for global English
- Interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills
- Creative thinker, self-starter with a proactive approach to resolving problems and issues
- Attention to detail and an overall focus on the design of high-quality learning experiences
- Brings a customer service mentality to the work
- Works well independently and as part of teams
- Eager to learn, grow, and build skills while working in a fast-paced environment
- Proprietary learning management and other topic specific content (Cornerstone, Slack, Workday, Paycor, etc.) is a plus

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $110,000-$125,000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 10%
Working Conditions:
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
