Job Description

As a Plant Quality Engineer at our Butler, Indiana Therma-Tru plant location, you will have the wonderful opportunity to join a dynamic team of dedicated quality engineers in coordinating resources to best support Manufacturing Operations across the plant. You will lead quality and cost improvement projects, work with all facets of the value stream, from vendor to end customer, to drive quality improvements, and support new product launches.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, (5+) years in quality engineering experience in a manufacturing setting and demonstrate a proven & successful track record identifying, controlling, and preventing product and process non-conformances.

Position location – This will be on site 5 days per week at our Therma-Tru Butler, IN facility.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Coach and Develop Quality Technicians, Monitors, Analysts, and Group Leads
  • Support plant metrics
  • Lead Problem Solving for Quality issues in your assigned area including containment, root cause, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Accountable for assigned Quality improvement (PDCA / WAR teams / Projects)
  • Lead improvement projects leveraging Six Sigma methodologies
  • Utilize 7 Habits discipline and methodologies
  • Lead and support daily communications with Operations Huddle Board meetings
  • Timely communications to all appropriate functions
  • Implement permanent corrective actions to eliminate process and product defects
  • Understand and translate the Voice of the Customer, Voice of Process, and Voice of Business into actionable items to improve manufacturing performance
  • Identify gaps between current processes and standardized work, Process FMEA and Control Plans
  • Support cross-functional teams to resolve quality problems with customers, purchasing, supplier quality, design engineering, product management, process engineering, and manufacturing operations
  • Participate in incident investigations and resolutions
  • Immediately address any potential safety or ergonomic issues with a “safety first” attitude

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in Quality or Engineering degree
  • At least 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; supervisory experience preferred
  • Proven successful track record identifying, controlling, and preventing product and process non-conformances
  • Ability to lead and influence others who are not under your direct supervision.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Root Cause Analysis, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and Control Plan experience
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong ability to be or become a Change Agent, helping our teams meet future requirements
  • Confidently and professionally provide coaching to Quality Associates, holding themselves and team members accountable for achieving aggressive goals while adhering to the TT PAR guidelines
