The Boeing Company is looking for a Thermal Development Lab (TDL) Project Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

This position will provide support to the maintenance and operation of a test facility (TDL) that includes pumps, compressors, valves, instrumentation, and other equipment with multiple process flows operating at a wide range of temperatures and pressures.  The facility will operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. This position is primarily day shift; however, alternate shifts and weekends may be required occasionally to meet program objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and implements a maintenance program for the facility equipment including planned and unplanned maintenance.

  • Develops checklists for equipment monitoring and maintenance based on equipment operating manuals

  • Organizes and maintains equipment operating and maintenance records, including shift turnover logs

  • Coordinates with other Boeing groups and outside vendors to obtain support for facility operations and maintenance.

  • Develops, maintains, and publishes facility operating plan/schedule coordinating with all stakeholders.

  • Manages facility consumables and ensures timely procurement, adequate inventory, efficient utilization, and proper disposal of consumables

  • Analyze facility performance and develop recommendations for improved performance

  • Develops, creates, and maintains documentation that supports both internal and external regulatory requirements including EHS.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of up to date operating and maintenance procedures

  • Directs outside vendors and personnel from other Boeing groups for activities supporting facility operating and maintenance

  • Develops, creates, and maintains spare parts plan and inventory

  • Tracks and monitors safety equipment and ensures appropriate inventory

  • Supports equipment commissioning and startup

  • Works under minimal direction

  • Good “Attention to Detail” and organization skills

  • Good communication skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse audience

  • Basic capability with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final US Secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 4+ years experience supporting cryogenic refrigeration or liquefaction equipment (pumps, valves, compressors) and industrial control systems

  • 1+ years of experience organizing and managing facility or laboratory records

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 2 or more years of experience as a lead or supervisor responsible for operation and/or maintenance in a facility with pumps, compressors, valves, and instrumentation.

  • 1 or more years of direct responsibility for maintaining EHS plans, training, and compliance records

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to develop troubleshooting procedures, diagnose and troubleshoot equipment technical issues

  • “Attention to Detail” and organization skills

  • Communication skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse audience

  • Proficient capability with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Adjudicated Counter Intelligence scope polygraph completed within the last 5 years

  • A current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)

  • (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program is desired.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $115,000 to $159,000
