The overall charter of the Computing Products Department is to design and support ruggedized military avionics equipment, generally for military customers (both fixed and rotary wing). Equipment types consist of mission computers, control display units, video processing units, and aircraft control panels. Printed circuit boards designed within the department include processor, I/O, interconnect, video/graphics, and EMI assemblies. Duties will include assisting senior engineers on design implementation, parts procurement, product build, working with and/or creation of technical documentation, and product test. The successful candidate will gain exposure and contribute to the design and verification of product lines within the department. Opportunities will vary from requirements capture, schematic capture, PCB design, and exposure to formal qualification testing methods.
This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June- December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024. This role is based out of our Cedar Rapids, IA site location; may be eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Will assist in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks as well as resolving day-to-day technical problems by troubleshooting electrical devices problems on the production line.
Gain knowledge about designing electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Gain knowledge in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components. Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems and servomechanisms.
Completes drawing designs as required, operates engineering software and equipment, and confers with stakeholders regarding engineering projects.
Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design for new products to ensure quality standards and functional objectives are met.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong interest in hardware development is desired.
Prior experience working in a cross-department setting to collaborate on projects.
Demonstrated skills in communicating across teams and platforms at all levels of an organization on project updates and status reports.
