Job Description:

BW Papersystems is looking for talented Mechanical Assemblers, who will plan and perform a normal range of operations connected with the assembly and erection of company-produced machines. Being responsible for the mechanical assembly of box-making machines; of which are comprised of feed, printing, cutter, scorer-slotter sections, and related units in accordance with design specifications. Your work involves working from complex drawings and a considerable number of component parts that require skill and care to align, fit, and assemble into units and obtain exacting operating performance and appearance.

Responsibilities/Complexities:

  • Work from assembly drawings, blueprints, specifications, and instructions to plan work in proper sequences.
  • Assemble sections of machines of various combinations thereof as indicated by customer specifications.
  • Perform complex assembly operations to exacting tolerances, work with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets.
  • Utilize measuring instruments to level and align work, detect, and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity, and parallelism.
  • Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to proper supervision.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding process and design initiatives; use knowledge, skill, and experience to make recommendations for improvements to design and/or processes.
  • Assist in generating standard work instructions/procedures, train others on proper procedures.
  • Act as a backup to the group lead, reporting daily team needs/opportunities to the team leader.
  • Capable of multi-tasking various duties throughout the day, working with a positive attitude with an ability to be versatile and flexible.
  • Work independently and solve problems while interacting with various steams and teammates on a daily processes and flow.
  • Attend regular scheduled shifts at the worksite that is required for this position; ability to work overtime as needed.

Basic Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 5+ years’ experience operating various hand and power tools involved with mechanical assembly.
  • Team player.
