This Process Engineer will specialize in test processes and equipment in a transmission manufacturing environment. This Engineer works independently and with a team to support ongoing production, continuous improvement projects and assisting trades on repairs to equipment. The engineer must be able to seek challenges with occasional guidance from supervision. Willing to learn equipment and processes.  Looking for a candidate that loves learning, loves problem solving and collaborates with others.

Responsible for supporting activities that may include:

  • Evaluate and report on test results daily
  • Look for negative trends, data mine to leverage contrast and problem solve failures
  • Work with Quality and Product teams to test and evaluate issues and determine best solutions including changing of parts, process and test limits
  • Troubleshoot test stand mechanical and electrical issues with skilled trades and OEMs
  • Continuous improvement opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Problem solving
  • Proposing, requesting funding, and integrating projects.
  • Providing technical direction to and oversight of internal resources and external vendor resources
  • Suggesting and carrying out practical actions to deal with issues.
  • Leading hourly team members in problem solving.

Additional Description

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of Process / Controls Engineering experience is preferred.
  • College degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Bauer test software experience preferred.
  • Red X or Six Sigma problem-solving experience preferred.
  • Discom and Noise, Vibration, and Harmonics experience preferred.
  • Romulus is a three-shift operation, this assignment may be on the second or third shift.
  • The position may require the candidate to work some weekends (1-2 Saturdays a month and a possible Sunday) pending demand for the product. The candidate will be compensated with paid overtime.
  • This position is in a high-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities so the candidate will need to be flexible in the assigned tasks.
  • The ideal candidate will be a “hands-on” engineer who will be working closely with other engineers, skilled trades and other hourly personnel to troubleshoot quality issues and equipment failures.
