Position Summary

Community Partnerships and Operations Specialist ( Full-time):

The Community Partnerships and Operations Specialist is a trusted advisor to our food distribution program’s partners with a special focus on nonprofit community-based organizations (CBOs). This role helps oversee the operational aspects of sales and partnerships. The Community Partnerships and Operations Specialist works to gain a detailed understanding of our partners’ needs, and demonstrates a strong knowledge of GrowNYC’s product offerings and operations processes. They are able to communicate our value proposition verbally and in writing, and share our passion and mission for supporting local and regional farms, as well as our focus on food access and delivering farmers market quality food throughout New York City. The position requires a focus on partnership building, order administration, inventory management, and customer service. This role reports directly to the Sales and Partnerships Manager.

Requirements

Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

  • Develop, manage, and improve relationships with existing customer accounts
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, and in person contact regarding product promotions, seasonality, and customer needs
  • Able to discuss GrowNYC products and farms with enthusiasm and knowledge
  • Remains informed on upcoming trends and developments in local food policy and regional food systems that can help shape program opportunities
  • Manage CBO accounts and assist in their season planning and programming
  • Manage special currency payments (Health Bucks, FreshConnect, FMNP) in partnership with GrowNYC’s Accounts Receivable
  • Develop and facilitate trainings and provide technical assistance related to SNAP and special currency education in collaboration with food access program colleagues
  • Enter orders and maintain inventory
  • Maintain customer records
  • Offer responsive customer service regarding questions and issues
  • Respond to customer complaints and develop solutions
  • Guide customers through our ordering policies and processes, including using our e-commerce portal
  • Assist sales team with regular reporting and KPI tracking

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent time management, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • 2 years of sales, partnerships and/or administrative experience in a food-related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Genuine enthusiasm for a relationship-oriented role, as well as for GrowNYC Wholesale’s mission
  • Robust computer skills including use of Microsoft Office, Google products, and ability to learn ERP, project management, and CRM systems
  • Organized, thorough, and accurate, with excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while also working in concert with team members according to established operational schedules

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • NYC driver’s license
  • Knowledge of food policy, sustainable local agriculture/farming, food systems, food access, and/or food justice

Physical Requirements


Schedule

Monday-Friday (9am-5pm). This position is full-time and year-round with an expected weekly workload of 35-40 hours per week with a 1 hour unpaid meal break each work day.

Compensation

This is a non-exempt full-time salaried position. It pays $56,000-$60,000 annually, and includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, paid time off, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and potential for parental leave for full-time regular employees who have been employed with GrowNYC for 175 days and FSA programs). This position is union eligible.

Location

This is a hybrid role including 2 days remote and 3 days from another GrowNYC work location (either at our Bronx Hub or at our downtown Manhattan office), including mandatory presence on Wednesdays at the downtown office. This role may occasionally require off-site field visits to customer/partner sites.
