Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Software Developer Intern located in Calgary, Alberta until Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). 

This internship opportunity has a targeted duration of 12 months, beginning on January 8, 2024.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Business Users; Helpdesk, and Technical Support Associates to troubleshoot problems as they arise.

  • Use programming languages to develop, maintain, and enhance applications for the Business.

  • Actively participate in developing program specifications, writing code, testing and implementing program changes and program development.

  • Develop test plans and thoroughly test/debug all programs before implementation.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation (design, architecture, data diagrams).

  • Proactively seek and implement process improvements using technology.

  • Researching, understanding and documenting customer and user requirements.

  • Working with management, stakeholders, team leads, designers and others as needed to help refine a product backlog of user stories for agile development.

  • Monitoring and reporting on progress and deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related fields or equivalent experience

  • Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on development or system integration experience (classroom or job-related).

  • Familiarity with developing in Java, .NET, HTML, SharePoint, Perl, Python, UIPath, Ruby, PowerApps or other development/scripting languages using TFS and/or Azure cloud.

  • Familiarity with SQL and/or Oracle databases.

  • Familiarity with secure coding best practices.

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance and maintain the clearance throughout their employment.

  • Previous energy industry-related internship experience is an asset.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
