Alcoa is seeking a Director – Financial Accounting and Reporting to join the Corporate Controllership team based at the Alcoa Corporate Center in Pittsburgh, PA. An exciting and meaningful role at the center of Alcoa’s in-house expertise on technical accounting matters.  The Corporate Controllership team consists of highly qualified CPAs with extensive experience in financial accounting and business matters. Situated next to Alcoa’s Executive Team, this is a highly visible role.

The role offers a high degree of learning opportunities in terms of Alcoa’s business, and complex accounting and reporting topics. This role will have considerable ongoing interaction with a wide group of stakeholders across the company including Alcoa’s Financial Planning & Analysis, Procurement, Commercial, Strategy, Regional Financial Accounting, Legal, Communications, Tax, and Treasury Teams.

The role requires an execution-focused, research-oriented, collaborative, innovative thinker, with outstanding communication and project management skills who demonstrates the highest level of integrity and trust. This role reports to the Vice President, Controller.

Major activities include:

  • Manage a team of 4 talented accountants and CPAs, who are responsible for external reporting and consolidation.
  • Review monthly segment, legal entity, and operations level financial results and summarize findings for senior financial management, and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, and disclosures for internal and external purposes.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance across the global organization for Alcoa’s most complex accounting and reporting topics in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Present key issues and updates to executive management related to technical accounting and external reporting matters as required.
  • Manage accounting and SEC reporting considerations for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information and identifying the financial impact of transaction terms, pricing, and legal commitments; work closely with Strategy, Corporate Development, Transformation, and Tax teams in evaluating opportunities and designing deal structures.
  • Oversee all aspects of external reporting, including periodic, quarterly, and annual SEC reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications, Corporate Secretary’s Office, and Investor Relations related to our external filings, investor presentations, and related press releases and statements, including drafting of financial sections and statements.
  • Participate in activities related to the quarterly reviews and the annual audit performed by external auditors.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

What you can bring to this role:

  • CPA certification required
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, including SEC reporting requirements
  • 12+ years of accounting experience, and one of the following:
    • Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting
    • Minimum 4 years of experience within an external reporting team of a publicly traded manufacturing company
