Audio Visual Learning Developer Spring 2024 Internship - Remote

The SWA University Learning & Development Team creates the training and development for Employees at various stages of their careers, in all locations and positions across the country, to educate, retain and advance our Employees. We support a culture of learning and growth.

This AV Learning Developer Intern will assist with the development of SWA University learning solutions. They will utilize the knowledge of training development and inputs from Customers and Partners to meet the Customer’s goals. They will act as an effective and collaborative Team Member and work efficiently to complete projects on time and on budget.

As an Internyou can expect to:    

  • Join Southwest as a Spring 2024 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from January 30th through April 19th. 

  • Work fully remotely, with opportunities to connect with your Team and other workgroups virtually and potential to travel to visit our Dallas, TX Headquarters. 

  • Dedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks, up to 40 hours a week. We recommend checking your spring schedule now to ensure availability. 

  • Receive an hourly pay of $22 and receive a one-time, $500 stipend on your first paycheck. 

  • Receive free, unlimited travel privileges for yourself. 

  • Interns will receive any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship. 
     

There is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the AV Learning Developer Intern may include but are not limited to:

  • Developing effective and engaging learning content using industry-leading development tools.
  • Creating and maintaining learning material for a given Customer group, which can include online learning, classroom curriculum, job aids, videos, graphics, and performance support tools.
  • Meeting Customer needs while recommending and developing effective sustainable solutions.
  • Working closely with subject matter experts to gather requirements and ensure accuracy of the content.
  • Developing in an agile environment, conducting rapid analysis, producing prototypes, and hosting iterative content reviews.
  • Balancing multiple projects at a time and meeting milestones and target timelines.
  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of products.
  • Completing other ad hoc tasks as assigned by Leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.

Education:

  • Progress towards degree, major, or minor in Communication, Graphic Design, Journalism, Broadcasting, & Videography or similar degree required. Journalism, Broadcasting, & Videography majors preferred.
  • Minimum Sophomore status. May not have undergraduate graduate date of December 2023 or prior, unless already enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at the time of application.
  • To be eligible, must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by your university at the time of application.
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of your application.

Experience:

  • Working knowledge of training production, technical writing, multimedia development, or video production.
  • Required: Proficiency in Windows with advanced computer skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically with Premier & Audition. Basic knowledge of After Effects.
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) required.
  • Video, audio, and photography processing & editing experience preferred.

Time Commitment and Pay:

  • Required: Part-Time 24-40hrs a week
  • Program Dates: January 30 – April 19, 2024
  • Must maintain a consistent weekly schedule during normal business hours at a max of 8hrs per day and no fewer than 24hrs per week.
  • $22 per hour + $500 one-time stipend paid on first paycheck
