This engineering position is one of many in the Engineering Tech Center (ETC) focused on technical and discipline stewardship.  This role will bolster the Civil Engineering discipline at Lilly with expectations for knowledge sharing, communications, and mentoring of junior talent. This role will also provide technical consultation to sites on facility and civil engineering topics, support major capital projects, and network with the external community at large.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Technical solutions – civil, structural, and architectural engineering consultant, with special emphasis on code compliance; partner with other senior technical staff to direct civil discipline activities including technology assessments.

  • Major Capital Support - Provide technical consulting, both conceptual and detailed design, to Global Facilities Delivery on major capital projects; support the PDRI process on major capital projects.

  • Own and become the subject matter expert on Lilly standards, best practices, and master specifications within the civil, structural, and architecture disciplines.

  • Consultation - assist sites globally with technical evaluation, master planning, technology assessments, and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting and root cause analysis for C/S/A aspects.

  • Knowledge sharing - Provide ongoing technical support to site plant engineering groups, domestic and global; provide technical mentoring to Lilly engineers; participate in the creation and maintenance of Engineering Standards, Master Specifications, and Best Practices

  • External Influence - Monitor and, when appropriate, influence changes in external codes and standards on Lilly’s behalf, and work to ensure ongoing compliance within Lilly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering or a related discipline including design, construction, or maintenance.

  • BS in civil engineering or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)

Additional Preferences:

  • PE certification

  • Specific experience with building and fire codes, and standards

  • Knowledge of current construction practices

  • Demonstrated ability to execute the civil engineering discipline topics in a capital project environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Successful candidates will frequently work independently and, as such, must be a self-starter and capable of working with little direction.

Other Information:

Domestic (including Puerto Rico) and some international travel is required.  Travel is estimated to be about 10-15% of time. This is an onsite position that requires onsite presence the majority of the time. This is not a fully remote position.
