THE ROLE: IT Business Analyst

Job Summary

As an IT Business Analyst with Presidio, you will be the liaison between internal customers and the development team for web-based business application development and system integrations. The Business Analyst will need to have a dynamic and detail-oriented personality to understand and map out requirements that solve business problems with tooling features. You will play an important role in documentation, project planning, and strategic analysis support and will have a strong background and experience in supporting business processes, data analysis, data integration, software, software integrations, and CRMs. You will work closely with our development team to guide tooling iteration and will also work cross-functionally with program owners, project managers, and business analysts within our team. This role would ideally suit someone with a background with solid analytical, business, technical, and communication skills.

Travel Requirements

This is a remote role within the Continental United States. This position will require up to 5% travel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Become a trusted advisor and partner with one or more business units providing support and guidance around technical solutions.
  • Identify, create, and facilitate changes by conducting business and process analysis focusing on quality deliverables and data management.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new enhancements to existing applications.
  • Define the scope of an actionable project in cooperation with key stakeholders.
  • Produce basic presentations and technical documentation for an audience consisting of associates across various functions and levels of the business.
  • Analyze and consolidate the information using workflow diagrams and other visual tools; Compare the present state of the business processes and systems with the desired future state to provide gap analysis.
  • Work with members of the development team to design a comprehensive solution that aligns with current system processes and functionality and meets the business goals and objectives; solutions may include designing new applications, designing new features in existing applications, integrating external or internal applications with existing applications, etc.
  • Translate the solution into user stories, and functional and technical system requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers, testers, stakeholders, and the general project team.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize requirements to meet both short-term and long-term business goals.
  • Make decisions and reprioritize work when unforeseen design changes are required during the development cycle and communicate those changes to the development and stakeholder teams.
  • Perform end-to-end testing to ensure that the application meets the business and technical requirements.
  • Effectively perform demos of new functionality, explaining business goals and process changes to support stakeholders in executing user acceptance testing.
  • Document system updates in the form of release notes to educate both end users and service desk support. Manage and update system documentation, as needed.
  • Participate/lead daily release iteration meetings and manage release iterations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Experience in Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server and SQL Management Studio
  • Fundamental understanding of project management and agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with third-party vendor integrations with ERP systems and other business applications
  • Experience working/integrating with CRM, PSA, and Portal tools is a plus
  • Organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • Broad business and technical knowledge, with the business acumen required to connect people, processes, and tools to achieve business goals.
  • Highly adaptable, flexible, and willing to accept new ideas, processes, and procedures in a rapidly evolving business and technical environment.
  • Solid interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present to groups of all sizes, varying technical abilities, and levels of the organization, both locally and remote
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous work streams
  • Ability to interview individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal business units and outside partners.
  • Ability to communicate complex systems and process issues in simple and understandable terms and to use this knowledge to deliver analysis to support strategic decisions.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst on software development teams
  • Experience working with or certification in Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) is a plus
