Our Opportunity

GPJ is looking for a Senior Director, Labor Management to join our growing team!

This role is hybrid, reporting to one of the following office locations a minimum of 2 days/week: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Austin, Nashville, Detroit, Boston, or New York City.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Build strategy and provide oversight into how GPJ engages and manages on-site labor (union and non-union) we engage to install, operate, and dismantle our events across the nation.
  • Provide labor guidance and expertise to GPJ's on-site delivery teams across the country.
  • Know, research, and communicate deep insight into the nuances and complexities of each labor market we work in.
  • Leverage existing relationships and knowledge of the US Labor marketplace
  • Provide concrete guidance and oversight to our labor practices to create efficiency and reduce errors
  • Build tracking and on-site management tools/process to promote efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage and build relationships with General Contractors & Labor Brokers both nationally and locally. Developing high-trust partnerships that promote collaboration and open communication between these vendors and our delivery teams
  • Negotiate MSA's with GCs and Brokers
  • The direct competitive bid process for job-specific RFQs for GCs & Brokers
  • Cultivate direct relationships with relevant Union's National Leadership and Local Leadership in key markets (Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York, Orlando, Chicago, Los Angeles/ San Diego)
  • Collaborate with leadership from Integrated Production, Live Production, Account Management, Fabrication, and Account Operations to build scalable processes that can be adapted for specific markets, project types and clients
  • Provide overview of strategy and status to GPJ US regional leadership
  • Partner with global leadership as needed on labor strategy on an ad hoc basis
  • Build training and tools and programs to develop and refine our labor estimating and management skills within IP & LP teams.
  • Develops, cascades, and promotes standardized processes, templates, tools, and/or technologies to manage labor relations, corrective action administration and escalated issue resolution protocols
  • Establishes credibility as a resource for our labor partners and our organization, through problem-solving and coaching techniques
  • Participates in the development and execution of labor relations strategies, provides guidance, and proactively resolves labor relations issues
  • Implement and maintain safety standards, including standardizing the use of personal protection equipment onsite, OSHA Standards for worksites, and any other federal, state, or local regulations governing our events.
  • Act as a focal point for any due diligence related to the Company's labor relations.

  • Grow expertise in the IP & LP teams. Producers & TDs are able to estimate their I&D labor and collaborate effectively with labor providers
  • Excellent relationship-builder with the ability to successfully work collaboratively with all levels of employees, the union, management, and external partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond promptly to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and exhibit unquestionable integrity, honesty, and forthrightness

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree highly preferred and 6–8(+) years' of related experience in labor management in the events industry.

1-2 years of supervisory experience.

Experience working on Macintosh and/or PC operating platforms

Thorough knowledge of the following software applications: Google Ecosystem - GPJ is a G-Suite environment, and ability to functionally use Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Acrobat Pro

Salary Range: $140k - $175k

Salary is dependent on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, and location.
