Job Description:

Specific Responsibilities

 

The Accounts Payable Accountant II for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache's Shared Accounting Services team at the company's Houston, TX office reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager.   The Accountant II will perform key tasks and reconciliations focused on accounts payable responsibilities, prepare associated internal reports, communicate with vendors regarding payments and inquiries and review expense reports.

 

  • Position duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Review duplicate invoice reports, payment proposal and complete daily payment process
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to returned payments or checks issued
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and internal metrics
  • Research and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Research and respond to internal requests
    • Invoice inquiries and payment status
    • Expedited payment requests
    • Special payment run requests
    • Block/unblock invoices or vendors
  • Work directly with APA’s Treasury and Supply Chain, as well as other internal groups, to problem solve and provide specific guidance, as needed
  • Review SAP Ariba invoice errors and manage resolution of issues with IT and Supply Chain
  • Prepare, analyze and distribute weekly aging report for past-due invoices 
  • Review employee expense reports for proper support and documentation for reimbursements
  • Review employee corporate credit card reports for proper support and reasonableness
  • Post journal entries for Ad Valorem invoices and manual wire payments
  • Work with the Corporate Tax team to analyze data for preparation of annual 1099’s for IRS tax reporting
  • Work with the Accounts Payable Manager to coordinate ad-hoc projects, and lead user acceptance testing on accounting systems projects

Qualifications & Experience

 
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting; other fields of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours
  • 3+ years of general accounting or auditing experience
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
  • System experience with SAP, SAP Ariba, SAP Concur and Symbeo preferred but not required
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet monthly deadlines
  • Able to think critically and analyze work performed to identify potential issues and anomalies
  • Able to work well in a team setting with consistent and professional interactions and approachability with team members
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
