JOB SUMMARY

Financial and Contract Services provides billing and settlement for the Intercompany Interchange Contract (IIC), wholesale contracts, coal-related commodities, the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), and analysis of wholesale energy margins and system operations. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the settlement responsibilities associated with the controls and administration of payments and receipts in Oracle Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for all areas (business units) in Financial and Contract Services.

This position will interface with both internal and external entities to ensure the efficient and effective administration of settlement and supporting activities.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process, monitor, investigate, and report on payments and receipts to support the Settlement Analysts in the administration of IIC, wholesale capacity/energy, coal-related commodities, and transmission usage contracts including accurate and timely settlement preparation, supporting documentation, accounting data, reports and statistical information, and issue resolution.

  • Perform within the established control structures to ensure the integrity of the company's financials.

  • Participate in the utilization of innovative technology.

  • Support operating company monthly accounting closing cycles related to settlement activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Degree not required, but an associate’s or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, or Technology would be a plus.

Experience/Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve challenging problems

  • Ability to build productive relationships and exhibit excellent organizational skills while working in a fast-paced, competitive environment while handling multiple assignments

  • Continuous self-learner

  • Proficiency with standard business and analytical software

  • A basic understanding of the utility business, Oracle AR and AP, and finance or accounting is a plus

  • The ability to understand and apply contractual language to settlement is a plus

  • Knowledge of accounting methods/procedures/internal controls is a plus

WORK LOCATION

  • This position will be based out of Birmingham, AL

  • This position has a hybrid work schedule with some flexibility

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires very little travel
