Job Description:

Sun IP is seeking an experienced, results-driven individual to grow and develop our sales team to achieve exceptional performance across the United States. The US Sales Team Manager will be responsible for coordinating the sales team in the US, working collaboratively with the General Sales Manager under the direction of the VP of Global IP Services. This position will require day-to-day leadership of remote and office-based teams. This is a remote role (unless based in the greater Philadelphia area), with about 50% travel to clients, conferences, and meetings. The position requires a well-trained, highly motivated individual with a proven track record of sales success, developing salespeople, and ensuring accountability for results.

Your insights, coaching, and example will be pivotal in developing and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:


Performance Management:

  • Be wholistically aware of team members' activities and performance, providing regular feedback, additional training as needed, and recognition.
  • Analyze sales data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Mentor team members by providing ongoing insights for improvement and assisting in a hands-on way in their development.
  • Hold team members accountable for achieving their goals and implementing performance improvement plans when necessary.


Coordination with the VP of Global Sales:

  • Provide communication of specifics regarding each team member to the VP of Global Sales.
  • Collaborate with the VP on ways to improve processes, training, and performance.
  • Be the onsite conduit to ensure the VP’s messaging and expectations are understood and addressed.
  • Within the span of authority delegated, take the initiative to make decisions and drive changes.


Team Leadership and Motivation:

  • Lead, mentor, and coach the sales team to enhance their skills and overall performance.
  • Create an environment of drive and energy to achieve objectives.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to individuals to address weaknesses and enhance strengths.
  • Inspire team members to do the day-to-day work required to generate results.
  • Monitor progress toward goals and make data-driven decisions to improve sales outcomes.
  • Recognize and reward appropriate behaviors and desired results.
  • Nurture a positive, fun, collaborative, results-oriented culture.


Recruiting, Onboarding and Training:

  • Lead the recruiting for new UK-based sales personnel.
  • Ensure efficient and effective onboarding and training.
  • Assess and refine training methods and practices to better educate and prepare sales team members for success.
  • Encourage team members to share best practices.


Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years experience as a successful sales-person and 3 years as a sales team leader
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, methodologies and performance metrics.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data for decision-making.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Motivation and drive to rapidly learn about the business’s industry, its target customers and end-users, its competitive positioning, and other factors impacting success.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and business acumen.
  • Negotiation and problem-resolution skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to teach by providing examples of appropriate behaviors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high-performance sales team.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce software and sales performance tools.
  • Patent knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field (or equivalent experience).
