About the Role

We are seeking an experienced tax professional to join the Finance Team at Turn/River. In this position, you will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for tax matters across the business, including the management company, the private equity funds, and our general partner entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage external tax service providers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tax compliance and reporting deliverables, including tax estimates, Schedule K1s and tax returns.
  • Participate in investment structuring discussions and analyses with tax specialists and the investment team to understand implications for our companies and our investors.
  • Tax planning and strategy for the management company.
  • Ensure tax allocations and deliverables follow the fund LPAs and side letters.
  • Provide responses to investors, as requested, on tax matters.
  • Work with portfolio company finance teams to ensure tax compliance at the Topco levels.
  • Analyze complex tax issues and translate technical regulations and analyses into practical solutions.
  • Manage the tax estimate and final payment processes and ensure timely processing.
  • Monitor tax developments in the industry and make recommendations to the business regarding process and policy updates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of tax experience, including at least 4 years at Big 4 or similar firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree; CPA and/or Master’s degree in taxation.
  • Experience in tax return preparation for investment partnerships.
  • Has worked with private equity or venture capital firms.
  • Knowledge of tax requirements at the federal, state, and local level.
  • Self-starter and demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple, competing priorities.
  • High level of integrity who is discreet and maintains confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Location and Compensation

  • San Francisco, hybrid work model

Base salary range for this role is $200,000-$240,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.
