As a celebrated member of our award-winning PX Team, your creativity will ripple across the entire Cisco landscape. From industrial design to packaging to user experience, our influence is profound and far-reaching. Originating from within the Cisco Meraki organization, we've expanded our horizons and are now setting ambitious new benchmarks for Cisco's design ethos.

Your role will be pivotal in advancing our mission to elevate the aesthetics and usability of our enterprise hardware products. We drive a concerted effort to harmonize Cisco's brand image across all product lines, ensuring our users' seamless and intuitive experience. Our design philosophy hinges on crafting solutions that are not just simple and professional but also communicative, consistent, and brave.

Roles and Responsibilities

As part of Cisco’s Product Experience team, you will…

  • Communicate design ideas effectively via sketches, renderings, handmade prototypes, and 3D printed concept models.
  • Use solid and surface modeling expertise to deliver adaptable and precise CAD packages to Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Create detailed drawings, CMF documents, and guidelines that enable engineering execution.
  • Employ user-centered design principles based on customer usage research to create intuitive designs that improve functionality and user experience.
  • Lead and chip in significantly to the design and development of product lines.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to reduce costs without compromising our products' elegance and premium feel.
  • Proactively share updates and innovative solutions with management and the team.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of engineering and scientific principles to ensure reliable product performance.
  • Mentor other designers, setting clear expectations and guiding them through the design process.
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions and design reviews to enhance creativity and problem-solving.
  • Innovate by exploring new trends and technologies and integrating them into product designs.
  • Advocate and establish design guidelines, standards and processes.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the full product development cycle, overcoming technical and business challenges while upholding design quality standards.
  • Safeguard and evolve our Industrial Design Language and brand identity consistently with our ethos.
  • Use your design and engineering skills to collaborate on non-product-based side projects that assist other teams.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional experience in industrial design and/or mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in 2D visualization, including sketching and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Mastery in SolidWorks solid modeling and advanced surfacing techniques.
  • Additional skills in 3D CAD software such as Alias, Rhino, or PTC Creo are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Keyshot and/or similar software for photorealistic rendering.
  • Capable of autonomously planning and managing multiple projects.
  • Proficient with multi-functional tools (Miro, Spreadsheets, Presentation software).
  • Meticulously thorough, with a knack for maintaining high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • A proven track record of steering products from feasibility through to production.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and part design.
  • A standout colleague with keen analytical and social skills, able to navigate and synthesize diverse views into innovative, logical solutions.
  • A robust and original portfolio showcasing a thorough product development process.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, and full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation targets. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and numerous well-being offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of the target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
